Remy & Isaac’s Romantic, Indie-Inspired Engagement Session in the Wichita Mountains
Remy and Isaac’s engagement session was the kind of shoot that makes me fall in love with photography all over again.
They had such a clear vision — dreamy indie-folk vibes with a little bit of edge — and the Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma were the perfect backdrop. We drove several hours to make it happen, and it was so worth it. The golden light, the quiet stillness of nature, and their playful energy made it one of my favorite sessions to date.
Capturing a Vision in the Heart of Oklahoma
Remy sent me the most amazing Pinterest board ahead of time, and I instantly knew the direction they wanted to go: something cinematic, moody but full of life, like an A24 film meets an indie love song. And when the sun started to dip behind the rolling hills of the Wichita Mountains, we all just looked at each other like — yep, this is it.
The location had no service (a small panic moment for both of us — thank you, Airplane Mode 😅), but we managed to find each other just in time. Honestly, getting lost in a place that beautiful only added to the magic.
Spinning, Running, and Cartwheels With Bison (Yes, Really)
I always encourage my couples to move, play, and just be themselves — and Remy and Isaac fully embraced that. We laughed the entire time, made them run back and forth in the fields, twirl around like a Folklore music video, and even captured some pretty epic cartwheels from Isaac.
The best surprise of the evening? We ran into a few wild bison (from a safe distance, of course), and got a few once-in-a-lifetime shots with them grazing in the background. It was absolutely surreal.
Why the Wichita Mountains Are Perfect for Engagement Photos
If you’re looking for a location in Oklahoma that doesn’t feel like Oklahoma — this is it. The Wichita Mountains offer a wild, romantic backdrop that’s totally unmatched. Between the golden grass, rolling hills, and the occasional bison, it’s a dream location for couples who love the outdoors, adventure, and something a little different.
